Description:
Kannas is the information and media centre for Finland’s defensive battles of the Continuation War in 1944 and the cavalry heritage of Lappeenranta.
The building is characterized by the contrast between the tranquility of the transparent, pavillion-like ground level and the sunken black box multimedia theatre unveiling the terrors of war. Free-form hipped copper roof links the building to the existing late 18th century buildings of the fortress.
