Verstas is proud to have the Aalto University Väre building nominated for the EU Mies Award 2019.

The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award is granted every two years to acknowledge and reward quality architectural production in Europe.

Väre, the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture is open! The new building was opened with a housewarming party on Tuesday and the first academic year in it starts today.

A Bloc, the new shopping  in the centre of Aalto University’s  Otaniemi campus will open its doors on Thursday August 30^th starting 9 am.

The new shopping center is connected with the Aalto University metro station and is a part of a larger Verstas designed building project including Väre, the main building of the Aalto University School of Arts and Design opening in the beginning of September 2018. The third part of the block, the new building of the School of Business will open in the beginning of 2019.

The construction work on Syvälahti multipurpose education centre is completed and the building has been taken over by the client, the city of Turku.

Final furnishing and equipping is being carried out for the building to be ready to welcome its first users in June, when the child health centre opens. School work starts and the day-care centre and library/youth house will open their doors in August.

Verstas Architects’ and LOCI Landscape Architects’ entry “Birdie” has won the invited competition for the development of the Satakielenrinne area in Tapiola.

Located in the heart of the prestigious Tapiola, “Birdie” is a new interpretation of the districts garden city ideals of combining urban living with nature. The competition was organized by the city of Espoo.

Topping-out celebration for Aalto University Väre & Maarintie 13 buildings in Otaniemi was held on November 2nd.

The buildings comprising School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Metro Centre and the School of Business will be completed in two stages between spring 2018 and early 2019.

The topping-out ceremony of Syvälahti School in Turku was held on Wednesday 23rd August.

The multipurpose building comprising comprehensive school for 800 children, kindergarten, public library and child health centre is scheduled for completion in spring 2018.

The facade work at Aalto University core campus buildings is well on it’s way and the construction proceeds in the interior.

The first building phase consisting of School of Arts, Design and Architecture as well as the Metro Center will be completed in spring 2018. The second phase is estimated to be completed early 2019 and will house the School of Business.

We are glad to announce that Verstas has been commissioned to design a new campus for Stadin ammattiopisto vocational school. The 37 000 sqm complex will be located in Roihupelto area, 10 km east from the Center of Helsinki.

The project will be executed in three stages. The first stage is due for completion in 2020 and the latter stages during years 2021-24.

Verstas celebrated its 10th anniversary by an excursion to Porto and Braga in northern Portugal.
